Faith and Witness Ministries at Second Reformed Church provide opportunities to learn and grow in our understanding of Christian faith and in our ability to apply it to our lives. As we develop new ideas and ways of living we learn to witness faithfully to the reconciling love of God.

Second Hour Seminars:We’ve got an exciting semester planned for our Adult Second Hour! Whether you’re a die-hard attendee or have never come before, you won’t want to miss these sessions. Here’s what's going on now:
Second Thoughts with John Schmidt, every Sunday
Ever wanted to talk back to the preacher? Ever wanted to ask a question about one of the texts? Ever wanted to hear the background story of a hymn or anthem? Ever had a “second thought” about something you’ve seen or heard? Pastor John Schmidt facilitates our “Second Thoughts” each Sunday morning at 11:15 in the Lounge.
Bible Studies: In past years men have met for Bible Study at one time and women at another. This year, Pastor John Schmidt leads a Bible study for men and women each Thursday at noon. The Bible study each Thursday will focus on one of the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday.
Wednesday Morning (10 AM) Coffee Hour: "The Second Cup" Need a cup of coffee? How about good conversation? Join us every week for both. Dr. John Schmidt host coffee hour and would love to have you stop by. Here's where we are going to be for the next few months:
High School
R.A.S.H.Youth Group
Youth Group Gatherings are from on Wednesdays, from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Senior High “Connection Café”
Sunday mornings at 11:15 a.m.
Come hang out with Kurt Lehnert, and Mark and Anna Bogertman. We’ll be discussing the tough questions of life that don’t seem to have easy answers and explore what God has to say about them. Join us for lattes, goodies, and good conversation.
Middle School
Who am I? Where do I belong? What do I enjoy doing? What is going on here? With all of these questions and thousands more running through your mind don't you want a place where you can find answers? Well, here is the place. Pathfinder, the new and improved middle school youth group will explore life with Christ. Fun and adventure are always an ingredient, so come and join us!
The Middle School Youth Group meets Sundays at 5:00 p.m. in the Youth Room
Children's Ministries
Children's ministry at Second Church seeks to establish a positive and solid understanding of the Biblical stories that illustrate the grace of God. We use the format of Children in Worship, an exciting way for children to experience God while learning about God. The children wonder and imagine as the stories are creatively told on a weekly basis. Children respond to stories of God through continued working with the story figures and art materials. And remarkably, it provides a way for children to experience the wonder of the words of God. Worship centers are offered for children ages 3 through 5th grade. Second Stop
A ministry of fun and faith for children!
Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm
Each Wednesday evening, children in grades 1-5 are invited to participate in praise, worship, and learning of God and God’s Kingdom. We’ll be doing hands-on activities, crafts, games, and storytelling, all of which are prepared with your child’s faith development and individual learning style as a focus. It’s going to be a great year!
