About Us

Second Reformed Church of Zeeland is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. Organized in 1904 as the English-speaking church in the community, Second Church is composed of people from many backgrounds and points of view. Foundation We hope that the church will continue to accept and preserve this diversity. Our common interest is an eagerness to witness faithfully to the reconciling love of God revealed in Jesus Christ and nurtured by the Holy Spirit.

The Sunday schedule consists of worship services at 8:00 and 10:00 with a Second Hour following which includes Children In Worship, Bible studies for youth and Sunday seminars for adults.

During the week, Second Church offers a variety of community activities: golf, softball, volleyball, retreats, concerts, and special community worship services. Our mission center helps us to worship God, nurture faith, care for people, and serve the community. The sanctuary was built in 1952 with simple, classical lines. An educational wing was added in 1962 and the complete facility was expanded and remodeled in 1994.

Second Church builds on its strong heritage and tradition for excellence. Visitors will discover people eager to worship God, nurture faith, care for people and serve their community and world.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is the very Kingdom of God - people living in covenant with God, doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8). We are trying to live the kingdom as people who reflect the attitude of Christ: poor in spirit, able to mourn, be meek, hungry and thirsty for righteousness' sake (Matthew 5:3-10). We live the kingdom as we experience the fruit of God's Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control (Galatians 5:22). This is our vision!

Therefore, mission here in west Michigan and around the world is to witness faithfully to the reconciling love of God, the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer as revealed in Jesus Christ and nurtured by the Holy Spirit. By grace, we claim God's reconciling love for ourselves and for the whole creation and our witness is the expression of that love returned to God in worship, shared with each other in fellowship, and presented to the world in a ministry of service through word and deed.
